At Fort Walton Beach Airport, plan on a credit card: 4 of the 6 desks require one, with typical deposits ranging from $200 at Budget to $300 at Avis. The other 2 desks, Hertz and Dollar, accept debit cards for some cars only, so check the specific car rather than relying on the company name. Filter for debit-card acceptance before comparing prices, then check the deposit and card rule shown beside each car. Extras charged at the desk are listed under each car with their price.

If you bring your own child seat, check your airline's rules first: most carry one free, some charge.

At Fort Walton Beach Airport, check card acceptance and allow time at collection: 4 of the 6 desks require a credit card, and Budget and Avis each average a 22-minute wait. If you plan to use a debit card, Hertz and Dollar accept one for some cars only, so confirm eligibility before booking. If your arrival schedule is tight, allow for the desk wait rather than planning to drive away immediately. Alamo averages 10 minutes and Enterprise 9 minutes, so compare those companies if collection time matters to you.

Only 50% of prices at Fort Walton Beach Airport are full tank out, full tank back, so read the fuel line under the car before you book.

For 4 people with luggage at VPS, choose an Intermediate car such as a Volkswagen Jetta: on average, it costs $62 a day in November 2026 around a month before, against $74 across the year. It seats 5 but takes 4 bags, so a full car needs passengers to share luggage space. A Compact car, such as a Nissan Versa, costs $60 a day at the same booking time and takes 3 bags, so choose it if your luggage fits. A Fullsize car, such as a Chevrolet Malibu, costs $73 a day but still takes 4 bags, so do not upgrade for bag capacity alone. 100% of cars offered are automatic, so you do not need to filter for that transmission; electric and hybrid cars are not offered, so look beyond this selection if you need either.
