At Santorini Airport, typical deposits range from £200 with Europcar to £939 with Dollar and Goldcar, while only 4 of the 18 counters take debit cards without restricting them to some cars. Hertz and Avis take debit cards for some cars only; the other 12 counters require credit cards. If you need to use a debit card, filter for it before comparing prices and check the deposit and card rule beside your chosen car. Extras charged at the desk, such as a child seat or an additional driver, are listed under each car with their price.

If you bring your own child seat, check your airline's rules first: most carry one free, some charge.

Allow for the pickup queue at Santorini Airport, especially with Selecta, whose desk averages 45 minutes, and check that your card meets the deposit rules before booking. If your plans depend on a quick departure, compare Selecta with Hertz or Thrifty, whose desks each average 6 minutes at pickup. Of the 18 counters, 12 require credit cards, so a debit card alone will limit your choice. Hertz and Avis accept debit cards for some cars only, so check the rule for the specific car rather than relying on the company name.

Only 62% of prices at Santorini Airport are full tank out, full tank back, so read the fuel line under the car before you book.

For up to 5 people with cases, pick a Compact at Santorini Airport, the Hyundai i30 or Kia Stonic size at about £26 a day in November 2026. It seats 5 but takes 3 bags, so a full car means soft bags on laps. A couple can save a little with a Mini, a Fiat Panda, at £15 a day, though it takes 2 bags. An Intermediate, the BMW X1 size, takes 4 bags and is £38 a day. 48% of hire cars at Santorini Airport are automatic, at £43 a day against £34 for a manual, so tick automatic when you search rather than assuming. Electric cars are 3% of what is offered and hybrids 2%, so book one early rather than expecting to find one at the desk.
