You need a credit card at all 7 checked Penang Airport desks; deposits range from £0 with Asia Car to about £556 with Green Motion, so check your available credit before booking. None of the 7 desks accepts a debit card, so if that is your only card, filter for debit-card acceptance before comparing prices. Check the deposit and card rule beside each car rather than assuming that a £0 deposit means no credit card is needed. Extras charged at the desk are listed under each car with their prices.

If you bring your own child seat, check your airline's rules first: most carry one free, some charge.
